Santiago - A new start in an old place

Hola amigos!
Comienza otra aventura mia! Unos dias atras llegue en Santiago - que no es nueva noticia, tanto como viaje hasta Chile en los ultimos 2 años. Pero esta vez es diferente...
I am here for work, having a contract with a highschool for teaching math =) So for the next longer time i left Germany (officially it's like I emigrated). No worries - I'LL BE BACK

Schon beim Anflug hab ich wieder gemerkt, wie toll die Lage von Santiago ist: 80km vom Meer und keine 50km von den Anden. Ich wittere einige interessante Ausflüge, vor allem auf nahegelegene Berge. in etwa 20km Enfternung sind die ersten 3000er :)








Für den ersten Monat bin ich über meine Schule in einer schicken Wohnung in einer guten Wohngegend untergebracht. Ich wohne zusammen mit Kristin, einer Kollegin die in der Grundschule arbeitet.
Ich wohne nur 15min Fußweg von der Mall Costanera entfernt - der größten Mall in Südamerika. Da gibt es alles!
Aber wieder mal bin ich überrascht, dass eigentlich fast alles hier teuerer ist als in Deutschland - abgesehen von Obst und Gemüse.

Am allerersten Abend nach Ankunft im Apartment, ein paar ebenfalls neue Kollegen getroffen, erstes Mal per Anhalter fahren, auf einen Hügel inmitten der Stadt spazieren, Sonnenuntergang erleben.

 Mit ebenfalls deutschen Kollegen: Kristin, Lisa, Diana

 Eigentlich kann ich mit großen Städten eher wenig anfangen.














Aber so in der Dämmerung...

The last days I have been organizing a lot: registration, ordering my chilean ID-card and so on. Next step - to open a banc account. I went for shopping and markets. Meet a lot of nice people. And everyone was happy and surprised about my (probably) pretty good "chilean". It looks like i could remember it pretty fast... this makes a lot of things easier here - i am everybodies darling and either in tourist information or markets or elsewhere people give me good information. 

  

And i also had my first little earthquake. It was quite distant and just for 3 seconds, but indoubtable to feel.

And i was very happy finding out by accident, that in June/July 2015 the Copa America (like european championship) in Soccer takes place here in Chile :D
That would be a good time to visit me for you ^^

My work will start in about one or 2 weeks. Still haven't been at my school so far. I am really curious about my pupils and lessons here :)
